10k Training Programme Race Specific Training Programme and Group
The Club would like to invite members to join in with a Race Specific Training Programme
The plan would be to form a Training Group from across ALL the Tuesday Training Groups who would like to improve on and hopefully run a PB in a 10k race
We have selected a race, The Draycote Water 10k which is on the 13th March 2022
The programme would be an 8 week programme based on running a minimum of 3 times per week (up to a maximum of 5 times) and can be tailored to your own ability. The Tuesday club night would form part of the plan and you would have ‘Homework’ for 3/4 other days.
The plan would start on the 18th January.
The invite will be posted on ClubPal on the 10th December and the numbers unfortunately will have to be restricted to 16 in order to make it manageable, so places will be on a First Come First Serve basis.
Booking arrangements will be advised once the list is finalised.
Basis of 8-week plan
1. You are already capable for running for 60mins without stopping
2. You run 3 times a week inc. Tuesday HAC session which will be Run 1
3. You will complete a 5k parkrun BEST EFFORT before commencing plan
4. You will commit to the 8 week programme, having entered the Draycote 10k
5. The plan includes a Runs 4 & 5 should you be able to train for more than 3 days.
It’s a great opportunity to see what benefit a structured training programme could bring to your running and have a dedicated coach for an event.
Kenny Anderson has kindly stepped forward to take the majority of the programme, so if you are interested, remember to look out on ClubPal on the 10th December and get your name down.
