We have been invited to co-host the Harborough Primary Schools XC Competition – the first of two events will be held on Thursday 15 October at Harborough Town Football Club.
We need a team of volunteers to help with the pre-course set-up on the morning of the event and a team of marshals out on the course for the competition races which are from 15:00 to 17:00. Many of our junior club members will be competing on the day representing their school.
If you are able to volunteer on the day, please sign up now. At the last event there were around 450 young runners, the overall event was a huge success which was down to the amazing support of club members, family and friends on the day.
Please let us know when signing up as to whether you can can do:
Morning (pre course set up), afternoon ( marshalling around the course) or all day (there will be a good break between the morning and afternoon sessions)
Marshals responsibilities - you will be sent to a particular point on the course ready for the first race at 3pm (so need to be there early approx 2.30) to ensure runners go in the right direction. You will always be in sight of another marshal. The course is open and relatively flat (apart from the mounds). It is well marked and sign posted. Hi-Viz vests are supplied and its appreciated if you can help take some of the posts and signs down after the race. Cheering on and encouraging the runners is part of the fun!
Setting Up responsibilities - Needed from around 9.30 am. The course is planned by John Thompson and we help by putting out sign posts around the Leisure Centre fields together with metal posts and taping at strategic points to guide the runners
Robert Smyth Academy are responsible for the race, results, health and safety etc our role as a club is to support.
